Dylan's First Thanksgiving

This year, we went upstate to spend Thanksgiving with Tim's side of the family. We did lots of visiting and Dylan just loved all of the action.
We drove up Thanksgiving morning and spent the holiday with Nonna, Uncle Andrew, Sophia, Uncle Ben, Aunt Em and her family in Syracuse. Because Uncle Ben's fancy camera was never far from his hands, we left the picture-taking to his artistic eye. We're waiting for him to send us some, so in the meantime we stole these 3 pics from Sophia's blog. Shhh, don't tell.
Here's Nonna spending some quality time with Sophia.
And Uncle Andrew chillaxin' with Dylan.
For dessert we went to Great Aunt Cindy's (Nonna's sister) where we saw GGMum and some of Tim's cousins - and ate yummy pie. After the long day, we headed back to Uncle Ben's and Aunt Em's house, where Tim, Dylan and I spent the night in Sophia's beautiful (and enormous) nursery. The next day, we relaxed and spent some quality time with Ben, Em and Andrew while the cousins played and slept. We have no pics...because we were lazy with the camera...
On Friday night we busted out our own camera! And we visited Poppa Scott and Nana Wendy for dinner. Also there was Wendy's son, Marc, and his two sons Aiden and Ethan.

Here's Aiden showing us all his toys.
And here's Wendy with Dylan and Ethan in the swing. She just loves snuggling with her grandbabies!
After dinner, we headed back to Nonna's house. We woke up on Saturday morning and Nonna got to dress up Dylan in some special accessories she had been saving for him. First, check out those Mickey suspenders - they used to be Tim's!
And that's another hat handmade by Nonna. We decided not to trim the pom pom but can't decide which we like better: the French beret style...

...or the Pope's funny hat look.
Once he was all dressed and ready to go, we headed to Bass Pro Shops where there is a HUGE aquarium with tons of giant fish. Since Dylan likes to look at the fish in our tank and the tanks at Nonna's house, she figured this would be a great activity for him. And she was right!
Here he is checkin' out the fishies......and checking out the trains in Santa's workshop.
"Yes, Dylan, of course you can sit on Santa's lap"
A serious conversation between Dylan and Santa...
When we got back to Nonna's house, Uncle Ben, Aunt Em and Sophia came over to have dinner with us. And the cousins got to play with Nonna. Here's Nonna teaching Dylan to be gentle with his little cousin, Sophia...

We had such a fun weekend! Can't wait to see everyone again soon!

Happy Birthday Uncle Dave and Aunt Michelle!

On Sunday, we celebrated Uncle Dave and Aunt Michelle's birthdays at Mimi and Papa's house. It was great seeing everyone, although we missed Aunt Lisa, Uncle Brian, Katie and Grace - they were sick:(

Dylan got to spend some quality time with Papa - now that Papa is no longer scared of breaking him!Isabelle and Scarlett were great at helping Uncle Dave eat his cake!
Dylan can't have cake yet, so he settled for his thumb.

6 Months!

Can you believe Dylan is already 6 months old?! I still find myself referring to him as a newborn but he certainly isn't a newborn anymore! While this makes me a little sad, it's also very exciting to watch Dylan grow and develop. His feisty (if not a little high strung:) personality and chatty ways (he knows how to to tell us what he needs!) continue to remind us that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.Watch out for when he learns to walk and talk. Not sure we'll ever be able to stop him! He is still working on rolling and is super close to independent sitting. He loves to stand with support which isn't suprising - being upright allows him to see what's going on and, as we know well, he just never wants to miss a thing!
Poor sign:( It didn't stand a chance with our little muncher.

Dylan likes them apples...

Apparently, he's a big fan.

Note: We only put him in the BeBe Pod on the table when we're watching him very closely!! We're not those parents:) Oh, and in the video I say he wanted nothing to do with the guacamole this morning. I meant to say avocado - lol!

Okay, that's all for the disclaimers. Enjoy the cuteness!

Class of 2030

Will Dylan be an Eph?

Or a Jumbo?

Maybe Williams for undergrad and Tufts for grad school...Or maybe we'll let him figure it out when the time comes:)

Happy Halloween!

When Dylan was born, he reminded me (a bit) of a lizard, or some other reptilian creature. A very cute and cuddly reptilian creature:) He had these big eyes and would just stare at the things around him, taking it all in. When he finally blinked, he would do so verrrry slowly. So, I decided we should dress him as a lizard for Halloween. I saw this "little monster" costume and figured it was the closest we'd find. So here he is: Mommy's little lizard monster.
Oh yeah, and Daddy's monster too:)
To celebrate the big day, Dylan and I met our Earthy Mamas group (more about them in another post) at the mall and did a little trick or treating. Being at the mall made it a little less weird to parade our tiny babies around in strollers asking for candy. But only a little. Dylan and I didn't get much candy because I felt a little weird asking for candy for "my baby". Who only eats breastmilk and mushy cereal. Lots of fun nonetheless!
Here's Dylan and me with some of our buddies. And yes, that's another little monster on the left - Dylan's friend Owen had the same costume.
